In Billie Jean, does Micheal Jackson really say “But the kid is not my son?”?

I’ve listened to this song over and over again, and it doesn’t sound like he says anything remotely like “kid.” I know Kid makes more sense, and the lyrics say kid, but it sounds like he’s saying m-jan or something. Am I just crazy?
